What is a sticky note?

2023-09-13

A sticky note, also commonly known as a Post-it note, is a small piece of paper with a re-adherable strip of adhesive on the back. These notes are typically square or rectangular in shape and come in various sizes and colors. They are designed to be easily attached and removed from surfaces like paper, walls, computer screens, and documents without leaving residue or causing damage.

Sticky notes are often used for jotting down quick reminders, notes, or messages. They are a popular tool for both personal and professional organization and communication, as they can be easily stuck to surfaces to serve as temporary reminders or as a means of sharing information with others. Sticky notes are also frequently employed in brainstorming sessions, project planning, and other collaborative activities to capture and rearrange ideas and tasks.

The most well-known brand of sticky notes is "Post-it," which was introduced by 3M in the late 1970s and has since become a ubiquitous office and stationery product.
